DESCRIPTION: Great overall snowboard for any skill level from beginner to intermediate riders. Easy to ride and very soft board with a flat top profile. Boots and bindings sold seperately.
MANUFACTURER DESCRIPTION: "TheBurton Featheris a decent beginner to intermediate snowboard that will help you progress to the next level. There aren’t many tapered boards out there in the beginner range so if you are 100% sure you don’t want to ride the park then this is one of the only tapered choices out there.
We can’t be too hard on the Feather because of it’s price range but our only real complaint is a consistent theme with all Burton Rocker boards and that is the edge hold. If Burton fixed the edge hold this would be our top recommendation for beginner to intermediate freeriders. That being said it’s a great board for those who want an inexpensive board for learning how to ride in powder."
On Snow Feel: Pretty loose and playful. It can feel like you are going to spin into an edge and face plant but it usually never happens because the tip/tail is lifted off the snow. This is best in softer conditions and not that fun in harder conditions.
Powder: With the tapered rocker shape and 1″/2.5 mm set back stance the Feather also not a bad choice for a low cost powder/good conditions board. It’s got exceptional float for a board of this price range and makes for a very easy directional ride. This could be a poor women’s powder board.
Turn Initiation and Carving: Very easy edge to edge and any rider can get this board to turn almost anywhere. It’s no carving board but instead allows a person to work on skidding their turns with confidence so they can begin to work towards making better turns.
Speed: Not very fast and neither is the base. However a board like this doesn’t need to be. Most people aren’t going to bomb with this board.
Uneven Terrain: Perfectly easy with bumpy emerging mogul type groomers.
Edge Hold: In our opinion the Frostbite Edges should be extended further out and run longer down the board. It would also be nice to see an additional extension in the middle of the board. Still you get a great good conditions board for the price.
Flex: Very easy soft forgiving flex. Even though this is more of a freeride type of board it’s got an easy butterability.
Switch: Not that great switch but if you can center up the stance it’s doable.
Jibbing: Ok for jibbing because of the soft flex and continuous rocker.
Pipe: Not ideal due to the continuous rocker and not so solid edge hold.
Jumps: Pretty springy for an ollie but not the best for the man made park jumps.
CONDITION: Great condition. Normal signs of use. Please see pictures and video evaluation for more details on the condition.
